More on what my massage and manual therapy are like.
I correct displaced muscles, ligament, organs and do other soft tissue work such as breaking scar tissue and other adhesions and relaxing hypertonicities. I also use a variety of techniques derived from other cultures such as lymph drainage, moving interstitial waters to drain lungs and sinuses and more. Short descriptions of what I use are below.
- Soft Tissue Release: This technique is great for relieving acute pain caused by spasms and chronic hyper-tonicity.
- Myofacial release: This focuses on systemic and local areas where muscles and ligaments have become less mobile due to being stuck to eachother.
- Neuro Muscular education is great for releasing chronic and acute hypertonicity and cramps.
- Medical Massage: Focuses on treatments for common injuries. Very practical, but it feels good. I have only just begun the study of this work, and it is easy to incorporate into my work.
- Qi-Gong healing This is an ancient traditional form of healing used in China where one infuses the client with what we might call ‘life force’, it may in fact be a human form of electricity and magnetism. This can release trauma and increase energy. I have been studying Chinese internal Arts Such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and Bagua for over 30 years. I use some exercises from this training for my clients.
- Shiatsu and reflex work: This work is for balancing meridians. I use a little acupressure in every session. I have added some Chapman reflex and trigger point to this as well.
- Bio-Kinetics influence (BK): In this work, after bringing attention to the affected area with touch, the brain (thalamus) is actually stimulated to activate a resetting of neural messages. This is excellent for phantom pain and neuromuscular related ‘memories’.
- Berry Work influence. I have taken 300 plus hours of their courses and am influenced by their teachings. They understand the importance of correctly placed muscle and soft tissue and are a gold mine of tricks of the trade from around the world as well. Their original teacher was Lauren Berry. Their institute: Center For Integral Health has very well instructed classes.
- Mind over matter: Tension and disease, in the body, can have roots in the fact that that part of your body is carrying a kind of ‘memory’ or tension that inhibits full function of that part of your body. I have studied and practices with a multitude of practitioners, learning to harness our minds ability to heal.
